Install and set up Bella

Bella is available on the Chrome Web Store. Choose Add to Chrome, confirm the requested permissions, then select Bella from Chrome’s Extensions menu. You can pin it to the toolbar for quicker access.

  1. Open Settings. Select the Bella toolbar icon, then open Settings.
  2. Add your language pairs. Choose a Source and Target from the suggestions and select Add pair. Direction matters: English → Spanish and Spanish → English are separate pairs.
  3. Copy your private jobs feed link. While logged into ProZ.com, open Language jobs, select the green feed icon green RSS feed icon, and copy the full feed link. It contains a private token, so treat it like a password.
  4. Paste, test, and save. Paste the link into ProZ jobs feed link. Select Test feed; after it succeeds, select Save settings. Saving also runs an initial check.
  5. Run Check now. In Job check status (or in the popup), select Check now. A successful check shows how many jobs were in the feed and how many matched your pairs.

You can change language pairs later without replacing the feed link. Get a new link only if the saved one stops working.

RSS troubleshooting

"Feed link looks incomplete" or the feed is refused

The link may be partial, invalid, or expired. Log into ProZ.com, return to Language jobs, copy a fresh link from the feed icon, paste it into Settings, then Test feed, Save settings, and Check now. Do not use a public jobs-page URL in place of your private feed URL.

Cloudflare or a ProZ security check appears

Stay logged into ProZ.com in Chrome and open Language jobs once, then try again. Bella first fetches the feed directly. If ProZ or Cloudflare blocks that request with a 403 or challenge page, Bella automatically retries through a temporary, inactive ProZ tab and closes it afterward. It does not reuse a tab you are working in. If the retry still fails, copy a fresh feed link.

The check succeeds but shows no matching jobs

This is different from a broken feed. In Job check status, "0 of 12 in feed," for example, means the feed loaded but none of its 12 jobs matched your directed language pairs. Check each Source → Target direction, add any missing pairs, save, and check again. A failed feed instead shows Problem — last check failed and a Last error.

No desktop notifications

Turn on Check for new jobs automatically and Notify me when a matching job appears, then save. Also allow Chrome notifications in your operating-system settings. Bella's first successful check establishes a baseline and does not alert for the existing backlog; notifications begin with new matches found by later automatic checks. Clicking an alert opens the job on ProZ.com.

Checks time out or fail intermittently

Confirm your internet connection and ProZ login, wait a moment, and try Check now again. The ProZ feed normally updates about every five minutes, so repeated checks more often than that rarely help and may cause requests to be blocked.

Frequently asked questions

Is Bella™ made or endorsed by ProZ.com?

No. Bella is an independent third-party extension. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by ProZ.com.

Does Bella™ use the official ProZ API?

Pro subscribers can connect the official ProZ REST API from Settings (“Connect ProZ account”). Once connected, Bella switches from RSS to API-sourced job data, which is richer and more reliable. Feed watching via RSS does not require the API and works on the Free tier.

What is free, and what requires Pro?

The Free tier includes private-feed watching, language-pair matching, checks every 60 minutes, desktop alerts, Blue Board rating context, deep links to ProZ.com, and up to five Quick job searches per day.

Pro (£4.99/month) upgrades automatic checks to every 5 minutes, unlocks Smart Filters, gives unlimited Quick job searches, and enables the official ProZ API connection. Upgrade from Settings → Upgrade to Pro inside the extension.

Where is my data stored?

Your settings, private feed link, optional API key, and recent job cache are stored in Chrome's local extension storage on your device; they are not uploaded to a Bella-owned server. To perform requested features, Bella contacts ProZ.com. It also contacts ExtensionPay to check or manage subscription status; payment processing is handled by ExtensionPay and Stripe. See the Privacy Policy.

Where do Blue Board ratings come from?

Bella reads the "likelihood of working again" context from relevant ProZ.com pages for matching jobs. The rating belongs to ProZ.com, may not be available for every poster, and should be considered alongside the full Blue Board record on ProZ.com.

How do I upgrade to Pro?

Open Settings inside the extension and select Upgrade to Pro. Payment is handled securely by ExtensionPay and Stripe. Once confirmed, Pro features (5-minute checks, Smart Filters, unlimited searches, API access) activate immediately. To manage or cancel, select Manage subscription in Settings.
